Problem ID/symptoms

The employees need to wait for long time to meet the new vice-president. The company founder LaCroix is busy with expanding the new marketing regions and didn’t get the report of ongoing problems on time.

Less attention would be paid for product quality and specific programming targets are implanted. The employees spend more time for concerning with strict guidelines and outlined procedures.

Job dissatisfaction. The employees must follow the new procedures and their complains are ignored. Even the radio of turnover is not significant high due to wither economies, more and more employees are unhappy with their company.

Problem analysis

Due to the merging a new leadership style appears in the organization. The new vice-president prefers a downward communication style. When engaging in this kind of communication, leaders must explain the reason clearly and precisely when they make a decision. In this case the new leader just emphasized his dissatisfaction when quality problems increased, instead a detailed explanation to guide the employees repair the mistakes effectively. Memos and emails normally provide minimal amount of information. Everybody need to wait for a response to talk to the new leader is not only wasting of the time but also enhanced a hierarchy estate control system within the organization. The employees’ motivation therefore is decreased and confused of the distanced and less communicational direction form upper manager level.

Due to frequently travel the company founder spent less and less time talks to her employees face to face. Spending huge amount of time with her employees in the early years was an important factor for cohering everybody in the company together and keeping their business success. Since this communication canal almost vanished, the feedback came slow and covered the mistakes until it broken out.
