CAMPAIGN ON

FIGHT AGAINST SUBSTANCE ABUSE BY YOUTH

I am a third year student at UNISA in College of Human Science studying toward a degree in Communications Science. I have a task in putting together a campaign for a nonprofit organization as part of my portfolio. The school is not obliged to implement the campaign however it will be most appreciated if I am afforded an opportunity to present my campaign to the school. The proposed communication campaign to Elethu Themba public school is scheduled to take place at the school sports complex on the 16

th

Fight against substance abuse by youth.

The objectives of the Campaign are:

Develop youth consciousness with regard to behaviours and influences require monitoring.

Educate the youth of dangers and repercussions relating to substance abuse.

Develop a coordinated strategy among local schools and Government departments to collect, share, organize, and make use of available data on substance abuse statistics among youth.

To provide an opportunity for youth to lodge their complaints and relate their challenges to the authorities at the Campaign.

Promote sports as part of rehabilitation for the youth.

In order to achieve these objectives, the campaign coordinator has invited the leadership in Government, private sector, entertainment industry, religious and local authorities to the campaign. All enquiries regarding the meeting can be directed Ms Mannana Nkgabutle at Tel: 079 8999372 or e-mail: 42137160@myunisa.ac.za  We are...
