Roar

The song I selected as my “theme song” is Roar by Katy Perry. There are multiple reasons why I chose this song as the song to describe myself. At first, I found it very difficult to pick just one song that I would have to use to describe myself. I thought very long and hard about this decision over many days quite honestly. But then, it finally clicked! Some of my best memories in life that I will never forget came as a result of this song. Everything dealing with this song happened my senior year of high school and it sure was something awesome.

It all started when a few students received word there was this Katy Perry contest that all high schools could participate in. The goal of the contest was to make a video using the song Roar and it had to demonstrate standing up against bullying. The month prior to this competition my whole school had done a lot with anti bullying and standing up against bullying. Personally, I have a strong passion for standing up against bullying. I absolutely hate anything that has to do with bullying. Over the years I have seen many people severely bullied and had their lives changed all because of bullying. Not only that, but also a few people I wasn’t necessarily the best of friends with, had been bullied so bad that they ended up committed suicide. This really opened my eyes about bullying and made me serious about this Katy Perry contest.

So after about a week of planning, my school was able to put together this music video with the help of our local church’s film crew. At first no one in my school thought we would have a chance at winning this competition. There were thousands of entries and from schools much bigger than mine, so we weren’t very optimistic about this.
