My Initial Targets for this assignment

Specific - My main target is to achieve a distinction in this unit. I also would like to be able to perform in front of an audience at ease with no faults such as timing issues, incorrect notes or errors that detract from the overall performance.

Measurable - The thing that I will find the hardest to achieve is to play steadily without errors and show a distinction standard performance as I am very outgoing and this can be to my detriment as I try to do too much. I am hoping that over a short period of time I will grow in confidence and will be able to perform in front of crowds and work on my technical accuracy so that I can perform competently without mistakes

Achievable - To achieve these targets I need to practice the songs I have chosen using a structured routine, incorporating practice of technical methods on the bass guitar as well as rehearsal of the song itself. I will use varying practice techniques to my advantage, such as the isolation technique.

Realistic- To make sure that I do not make any errors I will practice each of the songs in varying ways. I will dedicate an effective and realistic amount of time to each song so that I can utilise my practices to their full extent.

Time-based – I will complete all of my practices, every run-through and each performance by the 17th of December. I will provide a detailed record of all practices until the performances.

Practice Log 11th October 2015

Rehearsal Objectives:

To competently play all of the pentatonic minor scales to specifically aid my technical accuracy, improvisation skills and provide motivation by making me more comfortable with my instrument.

To be able to play the intro, main section and bridges to “Bigmouth Strikes Again” by The Smiths by specifically targeting these sections and using the isolation technique in order to get a measurable grip of the song in an achievable manner.
