Module 3 Case Assignment

A-Rod

Well let me start first off by saying that I am not really a baseball fan. As a kid growing up I did collect baseball cards and I was a fan of the sport. I did lose interest in it once I started to get older and noticed the stands getting emptier and emptier as time went on. During the time I was growing up one of the main reason baseball started to die out was because all the baseball players were always on strike for one reason or another usually money. For me a kid growing up it was about the sport and the baseball cards. Alex Rodriguez is the youngest player in baseball history to reach 500 home runs. I know if I was a kid I would want that baseball card or that video game he is in. I do believe that basically all baseball players have done some sort of steroids at some point. Should they be banned from baseball I would say YES.

Playing baseball and making all those millions is a privilege not a right. If Major League Baseball will not punish their players appropriately, then maybe “WE” the fans and gaming shoppers should.  It’s a start that many people I think would consider.  This may trigger promotional activities and other pro-athlete “benefits” to start a trend.  Book signings, appearances etc.  Where else can you publicly admit that you hurt the integrity of the sport or a job and continue working without penalty or repercussions? I believe Alex Rodriguez has insulted all of us Baseball fans and Gamers by admitting his “wrong doing” AFTER several denials.  I hope that Alex Rodriguez, will hopefully hear the “A-Roid” chants and even more negative slurs thrown his way in the future.

Many kids who play video games, can have the opportunity to play as their “Idol”.  If it was decided to ban Alex Rodriguez from ALL Future Baseball Games, video games, signings etc. I think this would send a message.  Will it be a strong message?  Maybe...
