Week 8 Journal Entry Assignment 8

First, reconstructing how we think about race in our own lives, and second, using our sharpened analysis to reconstruct how race is discussed—and lived—in society at large. The pragmatists called for knowledge relevant to the task of reorganizing or, in their termi nology, reconstructing experience: making our lives together more just, democratic, and enriching (in the fullest sense of that word). (Desmond and Emirbayer, 2010, p. 512)

I personally believe in order for our country to move on from our current, past and present challenges is this:

We would have to learn to compromise, first and foremost on the things we truly disagree about and understand that our indifference makes life worthwhile of understanding as we educate ourselves.

Secondly, we have to understand the need for building stable and healthy relationships as bonding in our very own communities as we do in our families ties. We need one another and its require of us all to put aside our differences because we cannot succeed to without each other, rather we want to admit this or not.

Personally on my part, I have the right to teach and educate my children, family, community and myself about accepting the need to not be inferior but noticeably equalled to any other human being on this earth.

The issues we have are to change the patterns we have long so structure our lives too, such as injustice, prejudice, special privileges, oppression, harassment, racism, violence and denial of freedom, so I truly believe that we as a people would have to reprogram our way of thinking, our language and most of all the way we respect people as well as our perspectives and perceptions on how we actually want others to treat us, and it goes back to respect.
