Entrepreneurship

Being part of an entrepreneurial organization is one job, but being the leader of the entire company can be a whole other monster. There are many specific qualities that an entrepreneurial leader must have in order to keep the company productive and on track. The leader must try to use every resource available in order to become the visionary that every team member has bought into.

When I graduate and want to join an entrepreneurship, I would look first and foremost for a visionary. I would like to work for someone that contains a passion for what he or she is trying to accomplish. Passion is one of the most important aspects of a leader. Employees respond to passion and it will also serve as a form of motivation. If the head of a company acts lethargic and indifferent when it comes to their work, then that attitude will most definitely permeate into the rest of the workforce. I would like an energetic boss and someone who is never satisfied. If you become satisfied then the business will slow down or eventually stop. Always look for the next opportunity!

Fear of failure is not an entrepreneurial quality. A leader cannot be scared to branch out and try new things. If you fear every idea will not work out then there is no chance you will ever do ANYTHING; risks must be taken. This does not mean chose the first idea that comes to you, but a leader must be able to take calculated risks and take a leap of faith. I always think about Amazon.com which is a bookstore without an actual store. Selling books online definitely took a leap of faith.

Many entrepreneurship leaders have to start a company with basically zero funding. I need a leader that shows very good resource allocation skills. Networking is a very useful tool when it comes to starting a new business that needs funding and our equipment.
