Strategic Plan Part II: SWOTT Analysis

SWOTT (Strength, Weakness, Threats, Trends) is an analysis used to audit the strategic position of the business and the environment. Morales (2003) wrote, “It is rare to find a 24 hour daycare and in the next five years there will be a demand for extended hour daycare.” A first priority of a parent is to ensure that their children are placed in an environment that is safe and that offers their physical and emotional needs.
Forces and trends
Opening a daycare has economical, cultural, technological, social, environmental, and legal and regulatory force trends than can determine if your business will survive in today’s market. As a new owner a survey will need to be done with their employees, this would allow a various range in an area of where a daycare is needed the most. This will help question how far a person is willing to drive or how convenient it is for a person to drop off and pick up their child or children at the daycare. The daycare owner should also survey the community where business is being set up. Is the neighborhood safe for children to be, does the new cliental feel comfortable leaving their children in this surrounding area. The question of what resources are available for a daycare to participate in and what are the cons’s of opening a daycare in such an area. The environmental internal factors to question are the price range and associated services the daycare will provide. In what manner will the daycare be operating, is there a budget and enough finances to pay for the staff, services need to open the daycare and pay for rent or land for the building.
