Modern Challenges in Immigration

Immigrating to America is a long and financially difficult process. There are a lot of forms you have to fill out and you must pay for these forms to get processed. The average immigration processing fees can range from two thousand to five thousand dollar in American currency. This could pose a problem for immigrants because a lot of countries currency doesn’t reach the same dollar amount as the American dollar.

I do not think that the United States government policy should favor certain kinds of immigrants. I believe that all immigrants should have the same opportunities and be held to the same standards. The only exception I might consider is if the immigrant is enlisting in the armed forces. I believe that these individuals should have reduced fees in which the military would probably pay for. The sacrifice that they are making is a direct reflection on themselves and they should be given citizenship.

I believe that citizenship preference should only be given to immigrants who are in need. This will be based on their current health and finances. Even the neediest people will need to complete the basic application forms and fees to become an us citizen. I know that the needy people won’t be able to afford the fees. So they will work off a payment, while completing these payments they will only have a temporary citizenship. Once the individual pays the whole thing off they will be granted full citizenship. When it comes down to individuals who are rich or have a talent, they really don’t need any special treatment what that individual can do is apply for a temporary citizenship, get settled in America then try to get their full citizenship. Applications from certain countries should all be processed the same as any other countries, but the individual who is submitting the application should be looked at for a level of neediness.
