Full Performance Strategy Analysis

The overview of the performance management process.

Performance Management Process is a variety of activities including performance planning, ongoing feedback, employee input, performance evaluation, and performance review (Pulakos, 2004, p. 4). In the first step of Google’s performance management process, the organization reviews with employees what the organization expects them to exhibit and achieve, including communication, customer service, support for diversity, and problem – solving abilities. Then, according to Google, the performance management process aligns with the organizational goals and objectives. For example, the employees' performances supporting the diversity can create a diverse source of ideas, which lead to innovation because the innovation is the most vital role in Google's success. To measure individuals and teams’ performances, Google’s Human Resource Department sets different standards for different measurement methods such as contributions to innovation and quality of results for an individual measurement, and collaboration level and creativity for team measurement, to ensure the employees’ performances meet the goals and objectives. The Human Resources Department also conducts performance interviews which evaluate the individual performance based on knowledge, skills, and behaviors as well as the team performance based on the project teams in Google. Therefore, the Human Resources Department can determine the area of performance improvement.
