Effects of Stress

What steps of the general adaptation syndrome will I experience?

I believe that I would panic because of the pressure of having such an overwhelming increase workload. The next phase would be the alarm reaction stage my body would be tense from thinking how will I finish my workload and others too. Then the next phase would be exhaustion, not only from working but also from the pressure of the first to stages.

What emotional and cognitive effects might this stressor produce?

This stressor might produce emotions such as; I would be nervous and anxious, asking myself can I handle this work, will I be able to do the job right and finished it on time, will I be a disappointment to my boss. This stressor could also cause me to make irrational decisions.

If this stress continues, how might it affect my health?

This stress, if it continues might affect my health in ways such as frequent headaches, lack of sleep, and having sleepless nights can affect my emotional state and the way that I react with others. In addition overeating or lack of food, which in not good for my immune system. Stress can cause the body to develop ulcers, asthma and high blood pressure.

How might I resolve this situation effectively?

I might resolve this situation effectively by asking for help on some of the projects that I think will be more time consuming. Another thing I can do is to talk calmly to my boss about my workload that I will be taking over and ask my him or her for some advice on how I can work in order to reach the deadline.
