Would India’s population growth problems benefit from adopting a birth planning policy such as China’s One Child Policy? A comparison between China and India’s population growth problems.
ABSTRACT
This paper presents a formal analysis of the difficulties India would face if an analogous family planning measure such as the One Child Policy enacted in China during the 1970s were to be implemented in India. The first segment of the paper covers both countries individually, explained with issues relating to their population problems in the past, current and future. Ensuing would be an examination of the family planning measures that had been carried out and the successes and failures of these policies. The second segment focuses on various problems India may face, if the One Child Policy were to be hypothetically applied. Finally, a close up investigation into the political, social and culture structure of the nation is followed by a conclusion.
