The Moral Values of the Puertorican Families

The moral values in the Puertorican families have a big impact on the criminal wave that has been going on in Puerto Rico. During the past years you can notice the lack of values on the families today; this could be caused by the parent’s poor teaching of values. There are many young parents today that do not teach their children those values. Tolerance to others is very low, the lack of cordiality, kindness, responsibility, honesty and sincerity are the most important factors and crucial to keep a sane and free of violence society. By losing the importances of these values the youth is making inappropriate actions since they let their friends give them bad influence and them becoming criminals. As a store manager (Claire’s) I have seen various situation with young mothers, from them screaming at their children, abusive behavior physical and verbally, that is the type of ignorant parents I have to deal with every day. One of the latest trend is to use their children to steal from the store, various method are used for this purpose one of the tactics is to put articles in the stroller and then saying it was the kid. The other method is to send the children to make questions and while we are attending them they put stolen articles in their bags. We should also point out that parents don’t really care when you pick up a kids stealing from the store and parents threat you like it’s my fault. Now my question is; is this what they are learning at home then we will continue received those negative actions.

The latest actions from the police could also be a factor in the increase of the criminality even though the national Guard was recently activated this hasn’t been enough to decrease criminal activities, there are recent dishonest activities from the police like the one on October 6th 2010 when the FBI arrested 133 between state police, municipal police and prison security guards.
