Organizational Behavior Terminology and Concepts

Organizational behavior has many concepts that relate to it. Some examples of these are organizational culture, diversity, communication, business ethics and change management. Each of these terms will help to give people a better understanding of organizational behavior.

Organizational Behavior

The definition of organizational behavior is “the study of individuals and groups in organizations” (Schermerhorn, 2008). Organizational behavior can be used to interpret the relationships between people and organizations in terms of the person, group, organization or social system as a whole. The purpose of organizational behavior is so that there can be relationships built to be able to achieve objectives. In doing this, it will help with an individual, organizational, or social objective. At my previous job at Wal-Mart I was a customer service manager. I treated all my employees with the respected that they deserved as well as make sure that they are treated well. An example is I would bring in home baked goods to everyone and would personally walk around and offer something to all the employees. It always put a smile on their faces. I believe that as long as the employees or an organization are happy, then they will make sure that they cooperate with everyone else. This goes for cooperating with the company as a whole.

Organizational Culture

Organizational behavior is having beliefs and values which are shred within an organization. (Schermerhorn, 2008). Having the proper organizational culture will make the future of the business clearer. They will be able to develop and communicate their beliefs and values better to the organization.
