Stem Cells

Since the discovery of stem cells in the mid 1800’s scientists have been studying how to use these cells to the best of their ability. It wasn’t until the mid 1900’s that the new idea of using Embryonic stem cells, for research, to further mans knowledge of how the body heals itself and how the process can be artificially quickened and how to make the process more efficient. It was quickly learned that the cells from the fetal tissues can used for whatever the case of healing needed. However, the process of acquiring these cells also quickly raised controversy. In James Thompson, the creation of life and science that he went as far as play God and create life with his own hands. Today scientists have a hunger for knowledge and will do anything to obtain it, even if it means stealing the lives of the innocent.

Stem cells divide and create many more cells that are new. The term pluripotent meaning having many powers, to describe this capacity. Stem cells produce various types of additional cells, but also have the ability to replicate itself. (Marzilli 13). Adult stem cells come from adult and children. These have the natural function for the creation of other cells in the body it needs to replenish. (Marzilli 14). Embryonic stem cells are different from the adult stem cells. These cells can be used for almost everything and have edge up on the adult stem cells. As medical advancements become more complex, important question arise regarding their benefit to the human condition and especially their respect for human...
