COURSE DESCRIPTION:

Global companies are faced with dynamic environments in which they must accurately assess the political, legal, technological, competitive, and cultural factors that shape their strategies and operations. The success of overseas operations depends greatly on the international manager’s cultural skills and sensitivity, as well as the ability to carry out the company’s strategy within the context of the host country’s business practices.

PURPOSE:

This course has been designed to introduce the principles and practices of managing international businesses effectively. It is an integrative interdisciplinary course portraying a broad view of the scope and complexity of today’s international business environment and intercultural skills managers must learn to be successful in the twenty first century.

COURSE OBJECTIVES:

By the end of the course the student will have gained: • • • An understanding of international management theory and its concepts; A knowledge of the similarities and differences between international management and domestic management An understanding of the various external environments of international marketing (economic, cultural and legal/political) and their impacts upon management)
