Week 2 Case Study

01/15/11

1. For the industrial organizational view, I think that some forces in the structure of the company are that many people have grown up playing video games so they know what the consumer wants.

For the resource based view, they have many resources to maintain the competitive advantage because they have a large customer base. They many series of games that people will buy every edition that comes out. They also have games that virtually have no competition such as the Sims and Madden. There are not many games that are like the Sims and if people think of NFL games the first one that comes to mind is the Madden series.

For the Guerrilla view, the games that they have are always being copied by other game producers and sometimes they may even do one better. This is why they need to constantly improve on their product

2. I think that they do seem to exhibit the critical success factors.

a. Ability to embrace change. I think they do embrace change well. Whenever another company develops a new technology, they will try to improve on it and embrace it.

b. Creativity and innovation capabilities. They do have these factors because they are constantly creating new games and technologies they are also innovating new ways to work with changing technology.

c. Being a world class organization. It does seem as if they are world class. They are always making the company better and also making games that can even help people with health.

3. The main resource that I think they have is the fact that they have people who grew up playing and still love to play video games. I don’t think that it is very unique. Almost every person that is younger than forty has played their fair share of games.

4. I think that the stakeholders would be the people who play the games. They will need to constantly improve on their games or they will purchase other games from other companies.
