Facilities Management Terms

Facilities management in the field in which I am employed has allowed me to encounter most of the terms in my final for facilities management. However, I must admit that comprehending these terms did not take place until I enter this class of Facilities Management. This class has brought to my attention that just because I am not in a segment of facilities, engineering and planning or operation management, or any other name that is related to facilities management.

The terms that I will discuss are facilities management, risk management, asset and guest security, tradeoff analysis, and, facilities management and technology.

Facilities Management

Facilities management cover all activities related to keeping a complex operating. Facilities include grocery stores, auto shops, sports complexes, jails, office buildings, hospitals, hotels, retail establishments, and all other revenue-generating or government institutions (Facilities Net, 2009). The managers of these facilities must understand that the position they hold can save or cause a loss of life. The duties also, consist of crafting an environment for the guests and employees. Through maintaining the building in a sound and profitable condition, ensuring that all components are in good working order, the facilities are clean and safe and secure. In addition to the attractiveness of the decor the strategic planning of keeping the building renovated.

The position I hold is Managing chef, I never put these terms in perceptive. My duties have always have consisted of preventing, correcting, and reacting to issues like overflow of sewage, repair broken equipment, and building foundation is sound. This is just a little of my connection to facility management.
