Challenges Faced by HR Managers

Introduction

The Human Resource Department deals with management of staff within the organization. The department is responsible for hiring staff which involve attracting employees, keeping them in the right positions and ensuring that their performance reaches the expectation. Beside, the department also plans and sets day-to-day goals for the organizations. It is also responsible to plan for future ventures and goals involving people in the company (Handy, 1999). The main objective of HR department is to bring out the best in their staff and hence lead the company to succeed. However, these roles come with certain negative aspects. Fortunately the negative aspects can be minimized by improvements to their roles and functions.

HR professionals must play special roles in dealing with the changes and must develop specific competencies to support these roles. HR managers will have to tolerate with the employees and find ways to manage corporate culture, socialization and employee orientation. We have determined few issues related to HR and suggested solutions to overcome the problems. The first issue is the retirement of Baby Boomers causes skilled labor shortage. The HR managers need to find ways to replace the empty places. One of the ways is to recruit and retain potential talents such as Busters, Gen Xers and Millenials. But recruitment and retention are also the problems faced by the HR managers. Thus, we have suggested how to solve the problem and the solutions can benefit the organization. Beside, motivation to attract and retain potential talents can help to solve the skilled worker shortage but before this the HR professionals have to know the effective ways to remunerate the staff. On the other hand, the ability of HR managers to handle some common issues such as sexual harassment and stress management that happen in the organization can be the tough tasks for them.
