Background

Your team will collectively play the role of the client's Senior Human Resources Officer. You have invited two service-providers to give presentations about their proposal of services for your company. You will evaluate the two presentations with a list of criteria you consider most important (e.g. cost-effectiveness & duration of the programmes & services, logistics & arrangements, reputation in the field & track record, training approach & philosophy, and suitability for your colleagues). As requested by your boss, the Manager of Human Resources, you will submit a report to him/her after the presentations, recommending which of the management training companies (or which team if both teams are from the same company) should be awarded the training contract.

Your Task

Your team will collaboratively write a report of two to three pages to recommend to your boss which company/team to choose. The following are the essential elements of a recommendation report which you should include in your report:

• Introduction (scene-setting/background; purpose and outline of the report etc.)

(a) Context – reader’s request to give a suggested solution

(b) Purpose – to choose a training company for us – Quick-link travel

(c) Subject – need for choosing a suitable training company as ………

As requested, we have looked into the challenges of our company. There is an urgent need to choose a training company as both our drivers and managers need some specific training to improve professionalism. In this report, we will recommend which of the two management training companies, AP and VERTEX, should be awarded the training contract. The selection criteria and findings will also be presented.
