1. Introduction

In this project, we are going to identify the eight aspects of macro-external environment of Hong Kong. They are geographical location, competitors, legislation, government policy, security and safety, power and commodities, physical environment and technology. After analysis these eight aspects of macro-environment of Hong Kong, we have decide the best type of hotel that fit the environment best.

The following are the description about our new design hotel:

Our new hotel is called “S’ Resort Hotel” which is located in Stanley. The target market of the hotel are middle to upper class, they are mainly families and foreigners.

To the facilities, S’ Resort Hotel has some features facilities, such as artificial sand beach, in-room massage chairs, in-room spa, bicycle landing, boating, farming fun land. Leisure facilities including spa, swimming pool, fitness center, golf, tennis. For family facilities, it has a kidz playground and kidz library. To business facilities, the hotel has a business center, and every room is equipped with high speed wireless broadband connection.

The room style of S’ Resort Hotel is divided into four types and the prices are shown in the following table:

Macro- environmental of Security and Safety

Security

Hong Kong is not a target place of terrorism, the chances of criminal or terrorist attack is lower than those hotels in the Southeast Asia countries. The overall crime rate of 2007 is 1166cases, 2008 is 1124 cases, and 2009 is 1107 crimes. There is a trend that the overall crime rate is decreasing gradually.

To specify, the crime average percentage of Southern district is 1.23%, compare with the highest percentage of 1.56% of Sham Shui Po district, Stanley is relatively a safe district to establish hotel.
