I had quite a few jobs for our film, Hopes Up. One of my main jobs was being editor. Being editor was a difficult, yet fun job. After we finished filming, I uploaded the clips in iMovie and cut some scenes and put it together. It was fun because I got to play around with the transitions and many of the cool effects. Plus, I always wanted to edit movies myself. Sometimes, it was frustrating because the transitions were not working, but I eventually solved the problem. It was my first time editing a movie so I had to try everything out. Although the editing wasn’t outstanding, it was a good experience for me. Next time, I could learn from my mistakes and make my film even better. Rachel, Yuka, and I brainstormed our ideas and wrote our screenplay together. We all thought of ideas and combined them. I also helped with the costume designing. Yuka drew the costumes, and I colored the costumes of Jamie’s mom’s and the two men. I was also the cameraperson when Yuka was dancing. We used Photobooth for our film, so I had to hold the laptop for the whole time. Sometimes my arms got tired so the screen became a little tilted or shaky. I was also the storyboarder. I filled in the shots, angles, and movements for some of the frames. Most importantly, I starred in the movie as Jaimie’s mom. It was fun to act and at first, it was hard not to laugh. Some scenes were awkward for me. But, I tried my best to be serious and make a good film.
