o    Your news organization is owned by a massive corporation that also owns an electronics company. It has learned that the refrigerators the electronics company makes are fire hazards and have destroyed several homes. How do you cover the story and how do you acknowledge that you are owned by the same corporation?

         Solve the problem using what you have learned. Solutions must be realistic. If you think cable news networks do not have enough foreign coverage, for example, it is not enough to say you will simply hire more reporters. You must say where that money will come from. Be creative, both in the identification of the problem and, especially, in the solution.

         Include the following:

o    The role of media in delivering news to the public

o    the significance of immediate news media delivery on culture (park gatherings, outings, celebrity death, possible alternate means of delivery, ie. News special)

o    The social responsibilities of news media.

o    Ethical and legal considerations in the online world

o    The importance of ethical and legal compliance in online interactions

o    The various information delivery methods to audiences

o    Advantages and disadvantages of modern media delivery

* The changes in media over the last century

Reporting the news swiftly, accurately as well as ethically should be a top priority for all major news organizations. This same methodology should also hold true even when the news involves reporting on challenges that affect those organizations internally. This was the case recently when our news organization, TSLJ radio was informed of a situation involving our sister company, EG Electronics, both of whom are owned by Downen Enterprises.
