Abstract

Electronic Surveillance was used to monitor Tony Sulka, the salesman of a car dealership. Tony was giving Drummand, an elderly lady in the market for a new car, inadequate information about the car in question. Drummand was curious about some of the replies and marketing strategies, that Tony epitomized. During the Tony’s boisterous sales pitch, Herman was eavesdropping him on without consent. After listening to unpromising details, Herman decided to interrupt Tony’s sale and bring to his attention the inadequate details he was providing to the customer. Also, Herman made him aware that those sorts of acts would cause the company serious troubles. Shelly, the other salesperson was inquisitive as to how Herman could know what details Tony disclosed; she decided to confront Herman. Shelly entered Herman’s office without proper notice, violating his privacy and specifically gave him a dose of his treatment. Lastly, Shelly left Herman with a thought of privacy invasion and the feeling of whether it is right or wrong.

Explain where an employee can reasonably expect to have privacy in the workplace.

In most working environments, privacy is the main concern of the organization. In the 21st century, privacy has become the number one topic for everyone, whether as an individual, business, or consumer. Privacy intrusion is prominent amongst the elderly, since many have been victims of identity theft via telemarketers. Nevertheless, the only place an employee can expect to have privacy in the workplace is in areas where privacy is expected, such as restrooms, locker rooms, or break rooms. As an employee it comes with expectation that monitoring will occur when you are dealing with others pertinent information or working as a customer service representative.
