A Grown Man Can Also Be Energized by Hunger

“A grown man can also be energized by hunger, and any weakness in his knees or irregularity in his heartbeat will disappear if he thinks his hunger is about to be assuaged” (P2214). This is a very powerful statement in today’s society people will use any means necessary to feed themselves, even if they have to take from someone else by force. Everybody tries to step on the next person to try to get ahead. The desire is for bigger and better even if the object of desire their trying to obtain is nowhere insight. I don’t totally agree with milkman going to pursue something that might not exist but I guess sometime you have to take chance in life.

“They won’t even let you risk your own life – unless it’s over them. You can’t even die unless it’s about them. What good is a man’s life if he can’t even choose what to die for?” (P2216). The line he just made actually touched my soul. So often in life people are always asking you to do things for them, until you get to the point where you are mentally, emotionally, and finically burdened. Think about it when you are a kid it’s your parent, if you have a job it’s your boss, or a single mom it’s your kids. Through the different stages in life it is always somebody that will be over you even if you think otherwise. Milkman statement is much more than a description about death it is about life in general.

“But I don’t have to tell you that your father is a very strange Negro. He behaves like a white man, thinks like a white man.” (P2217). This is a major problem in the world today. We have so many people walking around trying to be something there not. People should be happy how God made them; he made you out of his self image. The more people disown their heritage the worse off family life and togetherness is going to be. People tend to run away for their heritage instead of embrace it; I don’t know why that is the mind frame of most people but that is not the answer.
