Healthcare Operations Management

Healthcare operations management is a principal that includes the responsibilities of designing, redesigning, and overseeing health care operations in the productions of goods and services. According to (Langabeer 2008), management involves ensuring the responsibility of integrating scientific principles of management to determine the most effective methods to support patient care delivery. The reason healthcare operations management seems to become a complicated method the products and services rendered to patients become intangible, that require the output to be based on employee empowerment or giving the employee the power to make their own decisions to provide the best customer service they can, as well as technical enhancements. There are many goals and roles that the operations management that has to be accomplished to address the issues of productivity, processing, cost quality, and technology enhancements (Langabeer,2008).

The Roles of Management

Healthcare Operations Management roles are to turn the organizations’ assets into profitable services and goods. The responsibilities of management is leading, planning, developing, controlling, and monitoring all assets to obtain quality patient care. In a market that is ever-changing at a lightning speed under competitive pressures, the operations management roles are to be guided by the importance of innovation in information technology. It is stated by (Langabeer, 2008, p. 6) that “management role must include an extensive focus on " workflow, physical layout, capacity design, physical network optimization, staffing levels, productivity management, supply chain and logistics management, quality management and process engineering" I believe that to continue to provide the quality care ,and to maximize its performance in the organization and community; the management must make sure it follows his or hers roles and functions to be successful.
