Tip Of the Iceberg

What were the parts of the systems?

The parts of the system were the penguins, walruses, clams and the iceberg. The penguins were the owners of the territory that house the clams. The walruses were the arch enemies of the penguins. However, the walruses had the skills set to accomplish what the penguins ultimately wanted, which were the clams. The clams were the divine meal that the penguins and the walruses desired that was at the bottom of the sea floor. The iceberg was the place of dwelling that the penguins reside and house the gathering for all to feast on the clams.

What was the system’s purpose?

The system’s purpose was for the penguins to employ the walruses or enter in an agreement with the walruses for sole purpose to gather the clams at the bottom of the sea floor so that all could eat. The system was to be a never ending cycle of clam gathering so that all penguins around could come to the iceberg and feast on the clams.

In What way did the penguins’ seek stability?

The penguins engage in several unsuccessful interventions seeking stability. First, there were a series of memos that was suppose to remind the walruses to not to set on the penguins. Then there was sensitivity training to bring the awareness to the walruses about respecting the smaller penguins and for all to stop fighting while dwelling on the iceberg.

Why did it respond in this way?

The reason to why the penguins’ effort didn’t change was due to the penguins not being able to see the real problem. The balancing mechanisms that the penguins needed to keep thing the way they are tend to be invisible. The penguins were only manipulating the problem because they were unable to see the real problem. The penguins had a linear thinking mind set when they need a system thinking view. In-which system thinking would’ve allowed the penguins to assume numerous other complex factors as to why the fighting continued to happen.
