Mars used several terms to describe her disability and mostly all of them were familiar to me. Words like handicapped and disabled and disabled were used to describe the commonality of how crippled individuals in society are viewed and look at on a day to day basis. The author used the phrase, "differently abled" which was new to me at first glance but actually has a similar meaning as the words before it.  I believe that these terms would actually be appropriate in a definition essay. I say this because, A definition essay defines a word, term, or concept in depth by providing a personal commentary on what the specific subject means. Mars exhibited this throughout her essay and gave personal experiences within her explanations. An example of this would be the writer explaining the background of the word cripple and why she chooses to call herself this despite having so many other choices of words.

The two types of organization used in compare and contras essays are point-by-point and whole-by-whole. Point-by-point organization first compares and contrast one point between the two subjects and then moves to the next point of comparison or contrast. Whole-by-whole organization first presents all the points of comparison or contrast for one subject and then all the points for the second. The steps in organization consists of,  Focusing or decide what the purpose is in writing your essay, pre-write or brainstorm, come up with a thesis statement or idea and support your thesis statement, Make a plan or an outline, Write the rough draft and supporting paragraphs, revise your draft by having someone else read your essay, and lastly edit your draft, check spelling and punctuation. If you skip a step in the process you run the risks of not having a strong essay and costing yourself a good grade.
