A Voice

Have you ever been in the middle of a horrible situation, a situation that in terms relative to your own life experiences was as bad as it gets? And perhaps at the height of it all, with your face swollen from crying and buried in the palms of your hands you heard a calm voice. The voice seems to come from the very depths of my despair and rise up lifting my heart with it. A voice that basically said, "this is it, don't worry, this is as bad as it gets and you are just fine, and you will always be just fine." Then, as quickly and unexpectedly as it came, this tiny voice slips quietly away and you are left a little bit lighter than before, in spite of your continued tears and sense of heart ache. It is as if, since there is nowhere worse for you to be, you are freed from the fear and anticipation of bad things to come. It is as if, at that moment you transcend your concern for yourself, and so are not bound by its harsh mechanisms of reason. Is this just another trick of the mind? Is this voice just a small release of endorphins to keep you from going over the deep end and having a mental breakdown? Is this voice from a higher spiritual place? Is this voice worth even speculating about or can it's origins and reasons for being, be known? Or, is the most important question the one that points to our own motives as to why you wish to find out about this voice, and what it is?
