Professional Knowledge and Abilities Paper

Black Women In Sisterhood for Action (BISA) is a professional organization that seeks to develop and promote choice strategies for educational and career development of black women. As a volunteer for BISA, it has allowed me to examine and prepare myself for educational needs as well as my career goals in Business Administration. BISA interest me because it helps students who not only want to get a four year degree, but it supports the students who want a two year degree. Additionally, they concentrate on celebrating the black woman’s heritage and ancestors. It was through BISA support that educational programs and goals were funded for the scholarships to young black women going to college or needing other educational programs.

“BISA was founded on January 10, 1980, as a national non-profit corporation whose purposes are to develop and promote alternative strategies for educational and career development of black women in the world of work; provide scholarship assistance to deserving youths; provide support and social assistance to senior black women in the community; share information and resources in meaningful ways with the community-at-large; and to provide leadership, role models, and mentors for young people” (BISA). BISA condescendingly recognizes that notable Black women were here yesterday; they are here today and they will be here tomorrow.

BISA can assist me inquiring professional knowledge and abilities by providing skills to help me communicate clearing when interacting with employers, teach strategies and provides expertise in how to effectively deal with employees, teaches to work cooperative with other professionals and adults, and help organize and manage time and resources effectively.
