The American President is a movie that shows the dynamics of trying to be someone within that takes care of his daughter while trying to start a relationship with a woman in the midst of the chaos of being the President and all of the duties it comes with.

The American President was made in 1995 and was directed by Rob Reiner. This

movie is about President Andrew Shepherd. He is coming into his last year of

presidency and wants to run for his second term. The campaign was running

smoothly and it looked as if President Shepherd would be able to win easily.

That was until he came into a meeting for the environmentalist group that Sydney

Allan Wade was lobbying for. This is where the main controversy starts within

this movie when President Shepard makes a deal with Miss Wade. The deal was that

if she can secure 24 votes for Resolution 455 then he will secure the last ten

votes. Although at the same time he is trying to pass a crime bill and is also

going after the votes for this bill

During the course of the movie Andrew and Sydney fall in love and it is used

against Andrew because before he was just a widower, father and completely

focused on being the President. They start to attack his character and another

man, Bob Rumson, uses the United States citizen�s reaction to another woman in

his life for his campaign. Michael Douglas plays the role as Andrew Shepherd in

a very distinguished was. He his funny and charming within this role and fits

perfectly with his other cast members. Both Michael Douglas and Annette Bening

were nominated for the best performance ba an Actor/Actress in a Motion Picture

in 1996.

Within this movie it shows how the media can affect how the people of

American can feel about the things that are happening around them. We will

decide how we feel about something, in a good or bad way, with just rumors at

sometimes. Or others will wait until we have the facts, but if something affects
