Introduction:

Today's society promotes a view of equality and acceptance among mankind. "Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends," John 15:13. These are type of biblical passages used in sermons created by religious social groups. These words nurture emotions of love and loss to their followers. This same society contradicts its belief by barring a social group of its human right to serve and defend his fellow man.

A. The issues, challenges, and opportunities experienced by this group in the labor force

I. Policy restricting the United States military from efforts to discover or reveal closeted gay, lesbian, and bisexual from military service.

II. The act prohibits any homosexual or bisexual person from disclosing his or her sexual orientation or from speaking about any homosexual relationships, including marriages or other familial attributes, while serving in the United States armed forces.

III. The act specifies that service member’s conduct shall be separated except when a service members conduct was for the purpose of avoiding or terminating military service or when it will not be in the best interest.

B. How society has constructed this group’s identity

I. Society has constructed this group’s identity by singling them out by not letting them be a part of any activities other than work.

II. They really don’t want their relatives or friends in the same branch, because they feel like a man would not become a man by being with gay men and the same for a lesbian with heterosexual.

III. Even though it has nothing to do with the way they are that makes them not fight for their country but society has the mentality that gays are not respecting our country.

C. The legal framework relating to this issue
