1. THE INTRODUCTION

Training and development are specially used to train work force in an organization to increase productivity and to minimize losses while motivating employees. It also helps to maintain and to upgrade the quality of the organization through the development of efficiency and effectiveness of the employees. There are many training programmes for particular organizations, which are related to their working environment and to the field.

Training and Development concentrate the knowledge and creativity in a particular field. This can enhance the productivity and efficiency of that selected field. Therefore Training and Development are essential to Research and Development institutes such as Industrial Technology Institute.

Development of an employee can not be seen at the very beginning. Development of an employee is coming with employees’ previous experience, educational backgrounds and other achievements. Some people are born with abilities, but many are not. But in a firm or an organization, the whole team of work force should have same capacity and courage.

Building capacity and courage in a mind of an employee is not easy. It can not be done by Henry Fayols’ 14 principals of administration or F W Taylors’ scientific management theories. F W Taylor introduced training first. One factor form his theory is called “training employees to do works according to the scientific methods”. He also was not able to discuss about the development of an employee through training, separately. Building capacity in an employees’ mind is a psychological thing. It can be done by attitude changing in an employee. Attitude change of an employee can be done by suitable training and developing methods. So the training and development is an important thing for any kind of organization for its’ growth.

Lack of knowledge and lack of facilities are some of the reasons for that situation. To overcome this disastrous situation not only the financial...
