IT Project Implementation Failures

The five indicators of project failure that was represented in the implemented of clinical provider order entry (CPOE) system at Memorial Health System, were first the lack of belief in the project. When the proposal was first brought to the considered the project to be controversial some of the physicians felt that their workload would increase because the system would replace verbal orders with computer-entered orders by the physicians. Another indicator represented was lack of clarity of purpose when Dryer and Roberts presented the implementation of the CPOE system, the only reason they gave for the project was it would reduce medical errors. So even though they board really were not sure how this project would reduce medical errors they still approved the project. Not knowing that the analysis of the project was rushed, their only question they address are we sure this project will only take 18 months. When the board was presented with the analysis they should looked into the figures more closely before approving the project. Because the implementation of the CPOE system was not explained further in depth and the physicians felt they wld be overworked the left Memorial Health System and took their business elsewhere. The last three indicators of failure were initiative undernourishment, lack of technology stability and maturity and invisible progress. Though the board approved the project under false pretense they were not aware of what the project Intel led. So when they took the project team from 16 to 8 people it would hinder on the progress of the project. Because the managers in charge were not aware of how much detail the implemented CPOE took. And when Sparks was address by the team leader of the things going wrong with the project, instead of figuring how to fix the problem he yells at Martin for bring him bad news.
