Trend Analysis of Telecom Sector

Telecom Industry Overview:

The telecom industry has been one of the most rapidly flourishing industry in the country. The mobile penetration has been 60.6% which is impressive over the decade. However in the current fiscal year the growth of teledensity has been comparatively slow and it grew only by 2%. Teledensity is basically calculated by knowing the number of phones possessed per 100 people in a given or chosen region.

The cellular mobile market has added more than 3.4 million subscribers in july-Aug with 0.3 million average monthly growth. The subscribers base marked more than one percent growth only in one month throughout the fiscal year and seen users’ contraction in a couple of month. Another flourishing sector, Wireless Local Loop, has been broadening its customer’s base with handsome growth. Its five major operators have added 171,569 connections on their network in three quarters of current fiscal year.[1]
