The majority of Chad Thomas’s employees has been with the company since the beginning and is considered loyal to both Thomas himself and the company. The exceptions are the newer sales personnel recruited recently and specifically for the standard furniture line. He is not sure what the impact of all these changes (and others to come) will affect the company’s work culture, thus the revenue etc.

Thomas’ management and leadership style may be described as informal and authoritative. He appreciates his staff’s loyalty and dedication to their work and craft as well as their ideas. Everyone in the company goes on a first name basis and management meetings are usually held in amicable spirits. Up till now, disagreements and conflicts were minimal and relatively resolved through his personal intervention. Anyone who had any concerns over any issues would bring them to him for a decision. This approach has its origin during the earlier days when Thomas was more heavily involved in the technical work of design.

While Thomas has not received any formal training in the business or management disciplines, he is sufficiently aware of their importance by reading widely and attending seminars. From time to time, he has tried to implement some of the ideas from his reading and seminars but he finds them either difficult or too simplistic. His employees are sympathetic and willing to listen to his ideas but are generally not enthusiastic about changing their current ways of doing things.
