Short Essay 1

During the conservative period there were some differences and similarities between Mexico and the Platine area which included Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay. The similarities between these two areas are how they both couldn’t decide on their form of governments and couldn’t decide who should rule the nation. Also, Argentina was having sky rocketing on trading and tariffs. A difference between Mexico and the Platine Area (mostly Bueno Aries) was how the church played a role in people’s lives. Mexico and Argentina also handled their trades and tariffs differently.

Both Mexico and the Plaine area lack an organized government because they were under a colonial rule for such a long time both nations didn’t know or remember how a controlled government ran. Even with the group of ganchos and juntas, both groups take in charge of the situations for war and/or the form of government.

In Mexico the Roman Catholic Church played a huge role in everyone’s life. Mostly they all shared the same religion and like before some believed that things shouldn’t change and wanted to continue how influential the church ruled their lived. On the other hand in Argentina they established tolerance from the church and adopted American and European views, which excluded the church from the government. That not everyone had to have the same beliefs and that church was separate from the government. Especially in 1825 where provincial legislature was introduced that status of the church was also affected, “the status of the church were similar to yet went substantially farther than those elsewhere in Latin America in the immediate post-independence period…form a part of systematic program to reduce the power and influence of the Roman Catholic church.” (pg 123).

Argentina had a higher foreign trade compared to Mexico, these could be due to several factors. Mexico mostly depended on their own agricultural and sold it within that area, compared to Argentina who chose the path...
