Language Acquisition and Teaching

Since human developed language, it became vital to human life. Without language, people cannot communicate each other and work together: there will not be sense of unity between them if there is no language. Nowadays, people use language naturally, however, language acquisition is not easy as it seems. Many facts are mixed complexly when people acquire language such as ability of each person to acquire language and environment. If the language acquisition is so complicated, how people acquire language? Some people may wonder the mechanism of language acquisition. Therefore, this essay will talk about the mechanism of the language acquisition by covering three points, child language acquisition, second language acquisition and language teaching. Moreover, learning about language acquisition does not only help people to acquire language but also help them to teach language to the others.

First, when people want to know about language acquisition, it is important to know about child language acquisition. Language acquisition is not easy as it seems and when people start learning about it, they will find out how complex it is. However, please think about this once. Even a child who does not have any knowledge when they are born acquires language. Moreover, unless they have disability, every child acquires language in the first few years of life. Therefore, studying about child language acquisition is the first step of learning about language acquisition. Then, how children acquire language? According to the book, An Introduction to Language, it is proved by the experiment that infant’s ability to absorb language changes depends on the variety of the stimulation which they get from the environment. If they are in the environment where they have chance to hear or see many kinds of thing, their ability to absorb language goes higher, however, if the stimulation they...
