In the story of Paul Revere’s Ride, some values are reflected that we still see today such as leadership, teamwork, and patriotism. Sometimes no matter what the circumstances are, common themes are always part of our lives. These American values have been part of our everyday lives from Paul Revere’s Ride and before to even the present day. Even today we still celebrate the ideas of the American Revolution. We see these American values and how they began at the time of Paul Revere.

Throughout the American Revolution, leadership played a key role in many of the events. One of the major leaders of the Revolution was Paul Revere. Although the idea of Paul Revere being a lone rider was a myth, he was a primary leader of people in spreading the message of advancement to people during the American Revolution. Many other riders helped Paul Revere in the role of spreading the word around to people and “The more we learn about these messengers, the more interesting Paul Revere’s part becomes-not merely as a solitary courier, but as an organizer promoter of a common effort in the cause of freedom” (Fischer, 138). Although Paul Revere was not a solitary rider like myths have told, it enlarged his role as the organizer and leader of the rides. Without him, the Message may not have been organized and sent out to warn the people. Paul Revere may have played a key role as a leader in the revolution, however he was not the only leader. There were many leaders of troops throughout the revolution. For Example, one leader, Colonol Barrett always “walked the ranks speaking with words of caution to his men. Several remembered his ‘strict orders’ not to fire until British fired first, but then ‘to fire as fast as we could’” (Fischer 209-210). This showed how military leaders played a key role in the Revolution. Although Barrett was only one of many troop leaders, without them, there may have been chaos during the time of the revolution.
