Post Cold War Order

The Cold War started from 1947, was the war with the military race and political conflict between United States and Soviet Union. After the world war two, the two superpowers: United States and Soviet Union, both tried to use their influence to control the world. Because both of them were threaten of the nuclear war, the full-scale war didn’t start. The cold war was maintained until 1991, the Soviet Union collapsed. During the cold war, United States and Soviet Union, these two superpower countries, formed the world order as bipolar.

However, after Dec. 1991, with the collapse of Soviet Union, the world order has changed. Because of the collapse of Soviet Union, some scholars argued that United States was the only superpower on the world nowadays, States has become the overload, and world order of post-Cold War should be describe as unipolar. While some other scholars got different opinions, they thought that after the cold war, many countries such as China, Japan, India has grown up, United States was not the only power can influence the world anymore, the new world order should be multipolar. My view is that United States, is still a superpower country, but was not same as the traditional one. The new world order is changing to a special multipolar with one superpower country and many powerful countries.

After the cold war, many rising countries such as China, Japan, and India started grown up. The world has been more influenced by many powerful countries; United States can’t control the world by using their own power nowadays. We can analyze the world order in several ways: military power, economic power, and globalization.

Although military power was not as important as before to measure a country’s ability, it’s still one of the most important parts to measure a county’s power.
