The fall of the Roman Empire was not a single event but was a series of events. Rome’s downfall started in 337 AD. Constantine and his three sons fought over the empire.

There were three sons born to Emperor Constantine and his wife Fausta, and these sons were Constantine II, Constantius II, and Constans. Constantine II was the oldest son. He was given the title of Caesar in March of 317. Constantine II acted as a guardian for constans but they got in a fight and Constantine II was killed. Then Constans was killed by the gauls his brother Constantius II became king in 337 AD He would split the empire in three parts. Also he killed his whole family and only his cousins Gallus and Julian would survive. I think this lowered F.E.D because as soon as you split the empire into three parts they will be too busy fighting each other for power because there is not one main power and they will not pay attention to entrepreneurship, freedom, or discovery. While Constantius II was alive the population of gauls which Julian commanded liked Julian better than Constantius and as Julian was about to revolt Constantius died of a sickness. Julian stepped up to the throne. While Julian was spared he was placed in the care of the eunuch Mardonius. With him he learned a lot about literature, philosophy, and Pagan gods. He also was brought up as a Christian. As Julian become emperor he rejected Christianity and tried to change the religion however he did not ruthlessly kill because he was so intellectual. Even though he was intellectual he wanted to conquer Persia and died trying in 363 AD. I think this decreased Freedom because he religiously restricted people. Entrepreunership was affected because of his actions they had to give up five provinces. Discovery because there empire grew smaller, then Jovian the head of the imperial bodyguards became emperor. He was selected by Roman generals he was humiliated by the Persians and gave five provinces to them. Jovian burnt down the library...
