Assignment 1: Entrepreneurial Leadership

Case, Kouzes and Drucker have very similar theories/strategies regarding entrepreneurial leadership. They share a common belief in the principles of an effective leader. Unlike the former definition of Entrepreneurial leadership, the new definition, "is one of an enterprising transformational leader, who operates in a dynamic market that offers lucrative opportunities". The preceedings also mention that the entrepreneurial leader has transfermational leader dimensions. (Sashkin's1995) Qualities entrepreneurial leadership are clarity, communication, consistency, caring, creating opportunities, self-confidence, power need and it's use, and vision. Entrepreneurs are innovators and are focused on creating a new industry.

Steve Case (2010) former AOL CEO and Chairman, speaks to students at Stanford University about the "three P's" as assessment tools he uses to help guide his direction and goal into, what Case calls the Golden Era of entrepreneurship. Case believes that when the "three P's" are in balance, an entepreneur can achieve success like that of AOL, reflecting on his career, and when they aren't, you get the failure of the Time Warner merger. Throughout the ups and downs of his career, he never lost his vision/philosophy, Interactive Services, this is his passion. Case also ensures that his passion filters throughout the company, not just begina and ends with him, the CEO. He speaks about investing in people and ideas who can change the world. Peter Drucker (1985), mentions his strategy of "Futest with the Mostest", looking to the future.
