Introduction

1. Background of the study

Internship program is the systematic process for gathering, recording and analyzing of data about the subject that a student to learn on the program. The aim of this internship program is to connect practical knowledge with theoretical knowledge. Now the world is a competitive. So, every student has to be expert in both practical knowledge as well as theoretical knowledge.

As part of practical orientation program, I am attaching to United Commercial Bank Limited, Agrabad branch Chittagong for three month on complementation of the practical orientation program it supported me to know about the bank and also prepare and submit a report of such program. The report specially focuses with the Foreign exchange operations of the bank.

Banking is an important service industry. It is where we want to deposit money by opening an account, seek for a loan to purchase a new automobile or to build a home or an office building or tuition for college also for financial advice on how to invest our service.

Now a days banking is too much competitive business. In Bangladesh banks need to compete with local bank as well as global bank. So banks must include new modern features like online banking, Internet banking, ATM service etc to compete with other bank as well as increase profit.

Foreign trade is one of the most important segments of bank business. With the rising of world wide trade this sector has developed as a very profitable sector for banking business. As an intern I have got opportunity to have an in-depth study on Foreign exchange operation of United Commercial Bank Limited.

2. Origin of the Study

The report will be prepared as a partial fulfillment of Masters of Business Administration (MBA) program under department of business administration at International Islamic University Chittagong. This is the outcome of three months long internship program at UCBL in Agrabad Chittagong.
