According to Emory Center for Ethics (2011), “Ethics is defined as the level of understanding human behavior in relation to values.” Emory Healthcare system’s goals of which they focus on “patient care, education of health professionals, research addressing health and illness, and health policies for prevention and treatment of disease” (Emory Healthcare, 2010). Their main vision is to become the leading health care system in the Southeast. TVNS Memorial Hospital’s goals are to provide a healthcare environment geared towards specializing in healthcare for the elderly. There is the belief that care for the elderly is not at its highest. With many ethical issues determining the level of healthcare for the elderly, our belief is that they deserve the same level of care that would be given to the youth. The goals of the facilities both go hand in had with their ethical way of practicing. Ethically, the medical staff is to provide care to each patient and focus on them getting well.

Being that Emory is renowned for their university based healthcare system, they are consistently making new and revolutionary medical inventions and discoveries to further assist in the health and wellbeing of their patients and families. Medical research is necessary in order to make strides in health care, introduce new medications, to discover new symptoms and disorders and to test new treatment options for current medical problems. With Emory having their own university center for ethics, it forms the basis for their entire healthcare system. In doing this, Emory teaches all their staff along with others the basics of ethics and the many ways in which it can be applied in everyday life and also within the healthcare environment.
