Title: A global village of idiots

According to some sources, people can control their television habits and so it is not additive whereas according to others. Many people are hopelessly adducted to television and need help to overcome their dependency on it. This essay will do an abc analysis of Jo/An Claytor’s article on television. It will argue that she has/ has not/ has partically successed in arguing her. She has/ has not/has partically successed in arguing her position about the social effects of television.

Claytor’s first argument runs as follows: P1 Those who… control it. P2 Like cigarttes… permanent residence in the home. [P3 There two terms are analogous in the idicated respect. ] P4 Anyone who has tried… to entice. P5 Therefore… patterns of family changes. P6 The windows… video equipment. P7 Vedio… I see. P8 Unfortunately, … TV. C The main problem with watching television is that it is addictive.

This argument commits the fallacy of false analogy, a fallacy or presumption.

P1 This argument tries to draw a comparison between the addiction to cigarette smoking and the addiction to television watching .P2 Unfortunately, there is a logical problem here. P3 Using the false, hidden presumption that P3 In the original argument which is false because addiction to cigarettes is bio-chemical whereas addition to television is psychological and two types of addiction are very different in terms of their respective behaviors a logical problem which could have been avoided if Claytor had understood the concept of false analogy, and so the argument fails to prove its conclusion. C Therefore, this argument commits the fallacy of false analogy, a fallacy of presumption.
