When it comes to personal characteristics, I would use the Locus of control, self-esteem, and the need for achievement using the need for power, all in the (Jones and George text 2007 Pg. 58 and 59). First we have to know what entrepreneurs is, the (Jones and George text 2007 pg. 537) states an individual who notices opportunities and takes responsibility for mobilizing the resources necessary to produce new and improved good’s and service.

            Locus of control has two traits, the Internal and external, when it comes to a person opening up their own business I feel that the internal locus of control (pg.58) would be the best fit because this is where indualviules believe in their own self’s and are responsible for their own fate, unlike the external control where they believe outside forces are responsible for what happens to them. I know a few farmers’s who would never make it if they used the external control because they would wait on the rain and if the weather never happen there crops would dry up and die. But on the other hand the farmers who brought ran the pipes and brought the water to their crops in the dry heat, made their dreams come true and realized that they had to use their own actions to make this happen.

            When it comes to great success you must have self-esteem and the book states (pg.59) that people with high self-esteem believe that they are competent, deserving, and capable of handling most situations. As a business owner you must have be able to handle situations and believe in yourself, if you ever hire any workers and they don’t see the high self-esteem then you should shut down the business because they need to believe in you and they can’t if you don’t believe in yourself, this will run all the way down to the Consumer.
