Lack of Funds

Government of Pakistan has not paid enough attention to Railway Industry since last 10-20 years . Due to ignorance of  all the governments of Pakistan and railway authorities , the nation has lost perhaps the most important industry which could benefit the whole nation because railway , if operated efficiently, is a mean of mass movement across the country which if that population were to travel by road would consume greater fuel and other transportation cost as compared to railway.   Mr Nisar cheema quoted , “Government Priority has shifted from Rail to Road “ . He told us that in 1st 5 year budget plan of Pakistan , 70% of the infrastructure budget was allocated to railway while only 30% was given to road transport while now things have reversed and in 8th 5 year budget plan of Pakistan only 18 infrastructure budget was allocated to railway while rest was given to road transport .  he future quoted that railway industry need higher funds from Pakistan government because even buying a single locomotive and passenger coach from abroad costs more then 60 million Rs. , which is a very large some of money . he further complained that due to lack of funds railway industry has not been able to develop new rails , improve technology and other aspects .  Mr. Tariq Maqsood informed us that repairing of Pakistan railway requires a lot of expenses and sufficient amount of funds from government sector or the private sector is the only solution for the revival of Pakistan Railway . An article (the news)  puts light on the funds required by railway for its revival . More then 200 locomotives are lying idle and locotomovies with  capacity of at least 18 bogies or 2000 tons of freight are required but due to lack in funds Pakistan railway has not been able to imports these capitals which is a big hindrance in the revival of the industry.
