Psychologists who study the humans’ personalities and temperaments often find themselves drawn to biological personality traits that make us who we are. The analysis of underlying neuroanatomy does answer some of most pressing question about personality, but some answers still need future investigations. Higher level of psychological functioning self-concept and morality are the heart of personality functioning and social behavior (Pervin, Cervone, & Oliver, 2005). Recent work has investigated the question about using the brain imaging technique, FMRI (Pervin, Cervone, & Oliver, 2005). FMRI identify specific regions of the brain that are active when people perform a given task. Researchers analyzed changes in the blow flow during task performance (Pervin, Cervone, & Oliver, 2005). When using the FMRI it found that “there are regions of the brain that appear to be uniquely involved in judgments about the self" (Pervin, Cervone, & Oliver, 2005). Researchers also used the FMRI to investigate the possible link between brain functioning and an aspect of personality functioning. Research found that there was a different involvement of brain regions in moral versus non-moral reasoning (Pervin, Cervone, & Oliver, 2005). The different between moral and non-moral reasoning is that moral reasoning is not cold factual thinking but involves emotional responses that directly influence people’s decision-making capabilities (Pervin, Cervone, & Oliver, 2005).

Other researchers believe that people think and behave in a certain way because they are taught to do so. This is known as the nurture theory. My parents raised six children with me being the baby.
