• What is whistle blowing? Under what circumstances might an employee blow the whistle on his or her employer? As an employee, if you witness something that you perceive as illegal or unethical, under what circumstances are you required, encouraged, or prohibited from reporting the incident? If you were to report something, what are the steps or processes you would follow to report the incident?

Whistle blowing is basically revealing information of an individual or group of people who are corrupt and are violating their organization’s rules and code of ethics. It also means testifying against your supervisor or employer in legal proceedings or in a court of law and exposing evidence of wrongdoing to the media, such as facebook, twitter and any type of social media, or broadcasting.

An employee might blow the whistle on his or her employer when given instructions to do something illegal, maybe something that was immoral or against his or her values. For example, pretending that I work in a factory where there we use toxic fluids and pollutants we have to ware masks, gloves and safety glasses at all times in order to not get harmed or intoxicated by the materials used, and I accidentally overhear my boss, or employer order one of my co-workers to discard some of the company’s toxic waste into a local storm drain, rather than disposing of it properly I also notice that this happens regularly. I would definitely blow the whistle on both my boss and co-worker because they are polluting water and it’s harmful to everyone. Besides I wouldn’t be able to live with myself if I kept my mouth shut it is immoral and it’s totally against my values because I care very much about animals and wild life. I know that the toxic waste would harm sea creatures and any other animal that lives from the ocean, it could maybe even harm us humans because many people like to go fishing and eat their catch.
