It is not always about doing what is right for the kids, marriage takes work, divorce rates are up and husbands and wives give up to easily instead of fighting for what is important.

The movie The Story of US is a look at a couple that has been married for fifteen years. Ben and his wife Katie have two children Erin and Josh; they have a nice home and a comfortable life. Their happy marriage has been in the shams for some time now; they go through the motions daily for the benefit of their children. In all actuality they cannot stand each other anymore. While in the process of sending their two kids off to summer camp they decide on a trial separation. During this time they both try to remember what it is about the other person that caused them to fall in love in the first place. The couple shares their memories with a therapist through videotaped sessions. They are hoping to rejuvenate their marriage through this separation.

This movie gives a pretty clear look into many American families today. It is true that people like the idea of being married and having companionship, however they do not want to work at it.

There are many reasons why a marriage can end in divorce. Communication is the key to a successful marriage, but so many fail where this is concerned. Getting married while you are so young is another reason why a marriage ends in divorce. Think about how much you have changed since a child, you continue to change for a long time and it is impossible for two people, while young, to be just as compatible as they get older and so they grow apart.

You know things are getting hard, but you are not sure how to approach the situation, you try to handle things on your own, but you are just getting more and more annoyed. Your partner wont sit down and listen because they do not see the need and rather than acknowledging your concerns and realising that though they don't feel that way, you do and it needs sorting, they just go out and leave...
